KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The Tennessee Department of Transportation said a crash involving a semi-truck closed a lane of the exit ramp towards I-275 North on Wednesday afternoon, on I-40 East. Previously, TDOT said it closed the exit ramp entirely.
The department said the crash was reported at around 5:05 p.m. Eastern Time, blocking the exit ramp and the shoulders. It happened near the Western Avenue overpass. Video footage of the scene showed a semi-truck that had driven into the grass nearby, as well as emergency response crews nearby.
