KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — UPDATE (Sept. 3 3:30 p.m.): Officials said that a semi-truck hauling pallets caught fire around 2:10 p.m. on I-40 West, near the I-275 junction.
Soon after the fire broke out, officials said that they had it under control. Two engine companies, a hazmat team and a tanker responded to the incident.
No injuries were reported, officials said. The cause of the fire is still undetermined.

OLD STORY: Officials with the Tennessee Department of Transportation said a cargo fire broke out on I-40 East Thursday afternoon, around 2:23 p.m. and blocked lanes on the right side of the highway.
The fire broke out near exit 387A and exit 388, near James White Parkway, officials said.
Traffic backed up to around East Governor John Sevier Highway Thursday due to the fire. Officials originally estimated that it would be cleared by 3:24 p.m.
