TDOT: 14 Tennessee bridges closed, 5 destroyed from flooding

TDOT said 27 sections of state roadway and 14 bridges are closed as of Monday, Sept. 30. Five bridges are destroyed.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The Tennessee Department of Transportation said it inspected more than 100 bridges after Helene brought devastating flooding to some parts of East Tennessee. 

27 sections of TDOT roadway and 14 bridges are closed as of Monday, Sept. 30. Five bridges are destroyed, according to TDOT. 

The state agency said they still have "hundreds to [inspect]" as water levels fall. 

TDOT is focusing on reconnecting communities as some are completely cut off from surrounding areas.
