Newfound Gap Road back open after vehicle crash late Tuesday afternoon

GATLINBURG, Tenn. — Officials said that Newfound Gap Road, U.S. Highway 441, was closed Tuesday afternoon after a vehicle crash. By 6 p.m., it was reopened. The road runs between Gatlinburg, Tennessee and Cherokee, North Carolina.

Officials posted a tweet about the closure around 4:16 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.

Officials did not post any information about alternative routes, or about any estimated times when the road may reopen.
