KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The Knoxville Utilities Board said Western Ave. is expected to stay closed between Sanderson Rd. and Pleasant Ridge Rd. until 6 a.m. Wednesday morning while crews work to replace utility poles.
Officials said that they will work to replace four electric poles that were knocked down Tuesday, after a vehicle accident. Around 600 customers lost power after the accident at around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.
By around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday evening, only 167 customers were without power as KUB crews worked to restore it.
Some of the businesses on the section of the road that will be blocked include Hardee's and Bojangles, popular restaurants for breakfast food.
Officials with KUB asked people to use caution in the area.
