KPD: Knoxville man hit & killed while walking on Alcoa Hwy.

Investigators said the driver was headed south by the Cherokee Trail exit when they hit a pedestrian.

UPDATE (May 06, 2020): Police identified the victim as Samuel Stevens, 34, of Knoxville, Tennessee.

One man is dead Tuesday morning after he was hit by a car on Alcoa Highway, according to the Knoxville Police Department. Knoxville Police identified him Wednesday as Samuel Stevens, 34, of Knoxville.

Officials with KPD said that the driver was headed south by the Cherokee Trail exit when they hit Stevens, at around 5:45 a.m. Responders with AMR said that he was dead at the scene, according to a release from KPD.

The incident closed the left lanes on the southbound side of Alcoa Highway as police responded to the scene.

They said that no other injuries were reported and that the crash reconstruction team had begun their investigation.

By around 8 a.m. on Tuesday, lanes were back open on the highway.
