KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The Knoxville Police Department said there were no fatal crashes reported over the Memorial Day weekend. They released a traffic report from 4 p.m. Friday through 11:59 p.m. on Memorial Day.
In the report, police said they issued 469 citations and arrested 40 motorists. They also arrested eight people for driving under the influence. Police also said they investigated 73 crashes, and 14 crashes were reported with injuries.
Police also said they patrolled the roads more over the weekend, trying to keep them safe from drunk drivers and to prevent dangerous driving.
In between the traditional barbecues and festivities at most homes on Memorial Day, there were several other events to honor veterans.
