KPD said officers responded to a call around 2 p.m. of a two-car crash at MLK Jr. Avenue at Parkview Avenue. The investigation revealed that a car driving eastbound on MLK Jr. Avenue veered across the center line and hit a westbound car head-on, according to KPD.
The driver of the eastbound vehicle, a 38-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene, KPD said.
"The driver of the vehicle that was struck head-on was transported to an area hospital for treatment for non-life-threatening injuries," the department said.
KPD said the crash temporarily closed the road in both directions, with crash reconstruction personnel responding to the scene and leading the investigation. KPD said the investigation remains ongoing at this time.
