KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The Knoxville Police Department said they were investigating a fatal crash involving a pedestrian on I-40 East Wednesday night. KPD said officers arrived at the scene around 8 p.m.
By Friday, they said the victim was identified as Cody Clinton Brown, 32, of Clinton.
Knoxville Police said that a male pedestrian had been struck by a semi-truck while attempting to cross I-40. The pedestrian, who has not yet been identified, was pronounced dead on the scene.
Police said the driver of the trailer truck remained on scene after the crash and is cooperating with police in their investigation of the crash.
The crash closed down lanes of the highway near Papermill Drive, backing up traffic for miles. By 10:30 p.m. police said one lane of traffic was back open. Earlier, they urged drivers to find different routes while investigators worked.
