KPD: Driver arrested for DUI after crashing on I-40 West Friday night, one person injured

Officials said that the driver hit a guardrail on the highway, causing the car to flip onto its hood.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The driver of a car was arrested for DUI Friday night after crashing on I-40 West, according to the Knoxville Police Department.

Officials said that officers responded to the crash at around 11:25 p.m., just before the I-640 East ramp. There were two people in the car, and the passenger was sent to the University of Tennessee Medical Center for a possible injury, police said.

It appeared like the driver lost control of the car and hit a guardrail, causing the car to flip onto its hood, according to a release from police.

Additional information about the crash was not immediately available.
