TDOT: I-75 South back open after grass fire near Sweetwater

The Tennessee Department of Transportation said Monday that I-75 South was closed in Monroe County because of a grass fire. By 6 p.m. they said the road was back open.

A spokesperson said it was reported near Sweetwater at around 3:56 p.m. Eastern Time, before the Oakland Road exit. Traffic was backed up, stretching back to near Philadelphia and the exit to Pond Creek Road, according to TDOT.

Dispatchers said the fire was put out by 4:26 p.m. Eastern Time.
