I-75 North reopens in Loudon County after closing for vehicle fire

A vehicle engulfed in flames could be seen on TDOT's Smartway cameras near the Lenoir City exit.

LOUDON COUNTY, Tenn. — Northbound Interstate 75 was temporarily closed Thursday in Loudon County after a vehicle burst into flames.

The fire happened at mile marker 79 on I-75 North around 5 p.m., which is between the Sugarlimb Road and Highway 321 exits to Lenoir City. 

Traffic was backed up for miles to the Sugarlimb Road exit as of 5:20 p.m. At 5:40 p.m., one lane on the northbound side was reopened. The righthand lane and shoulder remained closed as crews responded.

As of 6:30 p.m., all lanes were reopened.
