KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Traffic is backed up for miles on eastbound Interstate 640 after emergency crews responded to a crash involving six vehicles that blocked all lanes.
As of 2:45 p.m., one lane had reopened on I-640.
According to the Tennessee Department of Transportation, a crash closed both lanes of I-640 South near Rutledge Pike just before the I-40 split. The area is particularly clogged due to ongoing construction.
As of 2:45 p.m., traffic was backed up for miles to the onramp to Washington Pike. Multiple ambulances could be seen at the site of the crash on TDOT's traffic cameras.
TDOT said people should use caution in the area.
