KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Interstate 640 East was closed in Knoxville after a crash involving multiple vehicles between the Broadway and Washington Pike exits on Thursday.
The Tennessee Department of Transportation reported the crash in the construction zone near Washington Pike around 4:45 p.m.
Both lanes of traffic were closed as emergency crews responded, but vehicles were slowly moving around the crash by going through the construction cones. Traffic was backed up past I-275.
As of 5:35 p.m., both lanes of traffic were open again.
