ROANE COUNTY, Tenn. — The Tennessee Department of Transportation said the left lane on I-40 is back open Tuesday afternoon near Kingston after a tractor-trailer overturned, spilling the plywood it was carrying over the road.
TDOT said a cleanup of 48,000 pounds of plywood is underway
The department said the road was closed at around 2:09 p.m. Eastern Time. On social media, a spokesperson said traffic was diverted to nearby on ramps and off ramps, avoiding the overturned tractor-trailer.
However, the department said backups were still present around two hours later, past the intersection with Highway 27.
Additional information, such as the circumstances surrounding the crash and whether any injuries were reported, was not immediately available. This story will be updated when more information is available.
