Crews to conduct single-lane closures on the Gatlinburg Spur starting June 3

Road work in the Great Smoky Mountains may soon impact traffic in the national park.

GATLINBURG, Tenn — Road crews will soon start on roadwork in the Great Smoky Mountains, impacting traffic along the Gatlinburg Spur.

The road runs between Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg and is part of the Foothills Parkway in the Great Smoky Mountains. It is around 4.2 miles long and sees around 49,000 vehicles a day, according to the National Park Service.

As part of the work, crews will remove litter, clean ditches, clear rocks, replace damaged signs and mow the side of the road. To do the work, they will implement single-lane closures from June 3 through June 6, and from June 10 through June 13.

People driving between Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge may experience temporary delays during the work. Lane closures will be in effect from 7 a.m. through 4 p.m. each day.
