KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Update (9/19): A 17-year-old is dead after crashing into a pole on Collier Road, according to a report from the Knox County Sheriff's Office.
According to the report, Rayne Cooper was driving southbound on Collier when she lost control. KCSO said Cooper began to swerve and then crashed into a KUB utility pole, causing it to split in half.
The passenger, however, was ejected out of the car. He was taken to the University of Tennessee Medical Center for further evaluation, the report states.

UPDATE (6:30 p.m.): Around 10:30 a.m. Rural Metro Fire responded to a reported car crash on Collier Road in the Powell Community, RMF said.
RMF said when crews arrived, they found a single vehicle had crashed into a utility pole, breaking it in half and coming to rest on its side off the roadway. One passenger had been thrown from the vehicle and was in serious condition. RMF said the driver was a fatality.
"This road, like many in Knox County, does not have much of a shoulder," RMF said. "If you get your tires off the road at a high rate of speed, you're gonna crash. Please slow down on our roads and arrive at your destination alive."

One person is dead, and another is seriously injured, after a single-car crash on Collier Road Monday morning, according to Rural Metro Fire. The Knox County Sheriff's Office also responded to the scene.
KCSO said the crash happened in the 7900 block of Collier Road in Powell.
Rural Metro confirmed with WBIR that a car crashed into a telephone pole.
As a result of the crash, Collier Road was closed for several hours and has since reopened.
