Chilhowee Drive is currently impassable after a 12-inch water main break caused the road to partially collapse.

According to the Knoxville Police Department, the road is closed just south of Rutledge Pike near Holston Middle School.

The Knoxville Utilities Board said the road will be closed through Friday night as they work to repair the break and that 12 customers are without water service as a result of the break.

KPD shared pictures of the road, asking people to find an alternate route.

Knox County Schools said Holston Middle and Spring Hill Elementary are dismissing early at 1 p.m. due to the issue.

KPD said parents and guardians picking up their kids should use Asheville Highway to access Chilhowee Drive at Chilhowee Intermediate School.
