MARYVILLE, Tenn. — The Blount County Sheriff's Office said that one woman was dead and another man was hospitalized after a car crash last Wednesday night in Maryville.
They said that Angela Rudd Lowe, 43, from Maryville, was a passenger in the car. She was pronounced dead at Blount Memorial Hospital. They also said that the driver, Jason Lowe, 48, is getting treatment at the University of Tennessee Medical Center.
A deputy found the crashed car while patrolling on Sevierville Road, officials said. They said that the 2008 Honda Odyssey was headed south when it drove off the right side of the road, went over a driveway and hit a tree. Jason was wearing a seatbelt, but Angela was not, according to a release.
The car's airbags also did not deploy, police said.
Police are continuing to investigate the crash.
