MARYVILLE, Tenn. — The Blount County Sheriff's Office said a man was dead Thursday after an early morning crash at around 7:30 a.m. They said the car left the road and landed in Little River near Ellejoy Road.

They said deputies found the car near Coulters Bridge. Divers with the Blount Special Operations Response Team responded to the scene to help pull the car from the water, according to a release from BCSO. Officials said divers found a man inside the car as they pulled it out.

They said Kegan Drysdale, 30, from Maryville, was pronounced dead at the scene.

They said the 2011 Nissan Sentra was driving northeast on Ellejoy Road when Drysdale lost control of the car as he turned around a curve. They said he likely overcorrected and cross the centerline before driving off the left side of the road.

They said the car struck some small trees, rolled, and landed on top of the wear.

Drysdale was wearing a seatbelt, according to BCSO. The airbags did not activate, according to police.
