Vols jump to No. 7 in latest College Football Playoff rankings

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee Football jumped to No. 7 in the most recent College Football Playoff rankings, announced on Tuesday night. On Saturday, the Vols came up with a 36-23 shutout win against Vanderbilt. 

Although in the rankings, Tennessee is No. 7, the five highest-ranked conference champions get an automatic bid, so the Vols are considered the nine-seed.

If the playoff started today, Tennessee would play Ohio State on the road in Columbus. 

Ole Miss jumped from No. 14 to No. 13, Miami dropped six spots after losing to Syracuse, and Alabama is back in the top 12 at No. 11 after beating Auburn this weekend.

Georgia jumped two spots to No. 5, while in the Big Ten, Penn State climbed to No. 3 and Ohio State dropped to No. 6 after losing to Michigan. 

Oregon held its spot at No. 1, and the top 12 teams in the rankings are as follows:

The final CFP rankings will be on Selection Sunday on Dec. 8 released at noon.
