Tennessee pitcher Drew Beam drafted 76th overall by Kansas City in 2024 MLB Draft

The junior pitcher ended 2024 with a 4.22 ERA.

FORT WORTH, Texas — Tennessee pitcher Drew Beam became the fifth Vol picked in the 2024 MLB Draft when he was selected 76th overall by Kansas City on Monday at the Cowtown Coliseum in Forth Worth, Texas.

Beam pitched three seasons at Tennessee starting back in 2022. He has been a starter since he was a freshman, and in his three seasons, he has gone 26-8 with a 3.60 earned run average in 51 appearances.

His best statistical season came back in 2022 when he went 8-1 with a 2.72 ERA. That season he was SEC Freshman Pitcher of the Year.

However, in 2024, he pitched the most innings in any of his three seasons with 102.1 innings over 19 appearances. He also had a career-high in strikeouts with 99. Some of his best performances came in the postseason, including big outings against North Carolina and Texas A&M in the College World Series.
