KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee football's second game of the season has a start time. The non-conference matchup against NC State in the Duke's Mayo Classic will kick off at 7:30 p.m., it was announced on Wednesday.
Tennessee football last kicked off the season in Charlotte in 2018, when the Vols were defeated by West Virginia in the Belk Kickoff Classic at Bank of America Stadium.
The Vols are coming off their successful two-year span in two decades under head coach Josh Heupel. Tennessee won nine games in 2023 and finished the year with a dominating 35-0 performance over Big Ten West champion Iowa in the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl to finish No. 17 in the final polls.

Tennessee's first game of the season against Chattanooga is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 31 in Neyland Stadium. The time is TBA.
Season tickets are sold out for the second straight season, a year after the Vols led the SEC in accumulated attendance and average attendance.
