KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee men's basketball will open its 2024-2025 season with an exhibition game against Indiana on Oct. 27 at Food City Center. The Vols and Hoosiers have agreed to support the John McLendon Foundation.

Tennessee has lost to Indiana all four times they've played the Hoosiers, the last meeting was back in 1985. Rick Barnes said he's excited to open the season against Indiana.

"We are thrilled to host one of the best programs in the nation and support a worthy cause at the same time," Barnes said. "I have a great deal of respect for Coach Woodson and I look forward to sharing a sideline with him for the first time."

This will also be the first time Indiana plays a game against the Vols in Knoxville.

"Indiana's first visit to Knoxville provides an excellent test for our guys before the season officially begins," Barnes said. "Most of all, though, it is a great way to raise money for an impactful organization whose mission I fully support."

The John McLendon Foundation provides scholarships for minority students who want a postgraduate degree in athletics administration.

The Vols are on a 25-game exhibition winning streak. Under Barnes, Tennessee is 15-0 in exhibition matchups. Last season, the team beat fourth-ranked Michigan State in an 89-88 victory.
