Tennessee football picked up former Temple cornerback Jalen McMurray from the transfer portal on Tuesday.
The redshirt sophomore totaled 24 solo tackles and four pass deflections in the 2023 season. In 2022, he totaled 49 tackles, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and one interception.
As a freshman, McMurray was awarded a single digit at the start of the season, the first freshman to earn one since Sean Chandler in 2014. McMurray was also a Freshman All-American for the Owls in 2022.
The Vols and Josh Heupel are looking to rebuild their DB room, as seven have already entered the portal.
McMurray is a younger player with potential and experience, and he'll likely be a nice addition to the defensive back room to create some depth in the 2024 season.
