KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee Football fans are buzzing with excitement as the team heads to the College Football Playoff matchup with Ohio State. But how much will it cost to follow the Vols to Columbus for the big game?
For the most devoted fans, cost isn’t a concern.
"I just knew that when the opportunity came, I was going to go," said Stefanie Bowen, a longtime Vols fan. "I’ve actually told friends and family—it doesn’t matter what it takes, we are going."
Planning a trip starts with accommodations. Hotel prices near the stadium range from $100 a night to nearly $1,000 per night, with the closer options coming in with a premium price. As for game tickets, prices currently start at around $250.
"I think it’s fairly affordable," said Bowen. "I paid about $250 each for tickets, which is actually a lot less than I expected."
Beyond tickets and lodging, fans should budget for food, transportation and parking — which can average about $100 per day.
For a budget-friendly trip, fans should expect to spend roughly $600 for a weekend of playoff action. For Vols fans, it’s a price many are more than willing to pay.
