KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Sources confirmed on Monday afternoon that Tennessee football would bring in former Washington co-defensive coordinator William Inge to fill the linebackers coaching position at UT.
Earlier this month, the Vols lost former linebackers coach Brian Jean-Mary to Michigan. Tennessee also parted ways with running backs coach Jerry Mack in the same week. Head coach Josh Heupel filled that position with former Cincinnati running backs coach De'Rail Sims on Monday as well.
Inge worked closely with Washington head coach Kalen DeBoer in the 2023-2024 season. He helped lead the defense to an 11-2 season, a Pac-12 championship, and a National Championship appearance in his second season with the program.
It was reported that Inge would follow DeBoer on the defensive staff at Alabama, but the opening gig in Knoxville must have changed his plans.
