KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee football running backs coach Jerry Mack is expected to leave the Vols for a job with the NFL's Jacksonville Jaguars, sources told WBIR on Friday.
Mack, who has been on the Vols' coaching staff for the past three seasons, is close to finalizing a deal to join the coaching staff in Jacksonville under head coach Doug Pederson and offensive coordinator Press Taylor.
The Memphis native guided the Tennessee team that finished ninth in the nation in rushing yards in the 2023 season and helped running back Jaylen Wright to a 1,000-yard campaign on Rocky Top.
Mack came to Tennessee in 2021 following a stint as an assistant coach at Rice University from 2014-18. Prior to that, he was the head coach at North Carolina Central, where he led the Eagles to three consecutive conference titles. His coaching career began in 2004 when he became a graduate assistant at Delta State.
