KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — VolShops are experiencing record-high demands after Tennessee's College World Series win Monday night.
After their win, VolShops received thousands of orders, which eventually crashed their website. VolShop's marketing manager, Tommi Grubbs, said the store received over 10,000 online orders since the win, and even more in-store.
"This fanbase is amazing. It’s the greatest fan base in the world. And we support our teams. People are coming in and they’re getting their gear," she said.
Students like Annie Altic weren't surprised the website crashed because of the magnitude of the fanbase.
"We're all super united," Altic said. "I wasn't shocked the website crashed. That was a once-in-a-lifetime event."
The parade through downtown Knoxville on Tuesday saw an estimated 50,000 fans, the University of Tennessee said. Grubbs said that since then, in-store merchandise has been flying off the shelves too.
Big Orange pride runs deep, she said.
"I think most of the fan base is happy they broke our website," Grubbs said. "They love Tennessee, and they're passionate."
Grubbs expects the high demand for UT merchandise to continue throughout the week, but she said she wouldn't have it any other way.
"I wouldn't want to be anywhere else," she said. "I just can't even imagine being at any other school, because no other school is as great as we are."
