Powell head football coach John Allen has been placed on administrative suspension according to Melissa Ogden, director of public affairs for Knox County Schools.
Ogden said in a statement to WBIR, "John Allen, head football coach at Powell High School, has been placed on administrative suspension from coaching pending the outcome of an investigation into allegations of unnecessarily placing students at risk of injury. The matter has been referred to the Department of Children's Services. Mr. Allen remains a teacher of economics and personal finance at Powell High School."
This was Allen's first season as the head coach at Powell. He took over after Tobi Kilgore left for Karns after one season.
Larry Neely will serve at interim head coach.
Powell is set to play at Oak Ridge Friday night.
