Anita Alvarez grew up swimming with the Town of Tonawanda Aquettes, the same team she watched her mother coach as a young girl. But before graduating from high school, Anita left Western New York and moved to California to pursue her Olympic dream.

Alvarez and Koroleva spent a week in May training in Anita's hometown, where they performed for a local crowd and were honored by the Tonawanda Town Board.
