PARIS, France — Christopher Bailey is coming home as an Olympic medalist. The University of Tennessee runner secured gold in the men's 4x400m finals on Saturday. This is his first Olympic medal.
Team USA included Bailey, Vernon Norwood, Bryce Deadmon and Rai Benjamin.
The former Vol helped Team USA set an Olympic record of 2:54.43.
Bailey led the race resulting in a 44.45 time. Passing the baton to Norwood, USA gained a lead with a 43.26 time.
Sixteen-year-old Quincy Wilson, the youngest Olympic track and field gold medalist, could be seen in the crowd cheering on the team as they crossed the finish line.
Botswana won silver and Great Britain won gold.
