PARIS, France — While there has been some complaints about the food served at the Olympic village in Paris, one item has quickly become the gold medal favorite: the chocolate muffins.

The saga of the Olympic village chocolate muffins has played out on social media, with Norwegian swimmer Henrik Christiansen posting several TikTok videos about his love for the delectable dessert.

In one video, Christiansen is seen carrying four muffins through the Olympic village. In another, he's seen in his room eating a muffin and trying to "hide" that he has a whole supply in his nightstand

The swimmer has gone as far as dubbing himself the "Olympic Muffin Man."

Now these aren't just your regular chocolate muffins, these have a gooey chocolate center and more chocolate pieces on top.

And Christiansen is not the only Olympian sharing their love for the sweet treat.

Stephen Nedoroscik, Brody Malone and Asher Hong, three members of the U.S. men's gymnastics team, echoed Christiansen's viewpoint about the muffins to PEOPLE.

Team USA runner Gabby Thomas called it "the best chocolate muffin" she's ever had and rated it a 9.8 out of 10. She explained the only reason it didn't get a even higher score was because they ran out when she went earlier, so deducted points for that.

"It tastes like a cupcake, it's so moist. Yeah, this is going to be a problem," Thomas described.

Filipino-American gymnast Aleah Finnegan posted her own video of the muffins, saying that she now understands the hype

With so much attention focused on the chocolatey goodness, internet sleuths have been trying to track down where to buy the muffins if you don't happen to be a world-class athlete competing at the Summer Games.

While there's been no official statement, the viral Olympic village muffins appear to be the Maxi intense chocolate muffin from Coup de pates. However, it doesn't seem like there's currently any way to purchase them online.

There are also now some recipes online to make copycat versions, including this one on TikTok that look similar enough to the Olympic village ones.
