KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee men's basketball was ranked No. 9 in the Associated Press preseason Top 25 poll on Monday.
The Vols finished its season 25-11 overall and 11-7 in conference play. UT made it to the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA Tournament after a round-of-32 win against Duke. However, they would not advance to the Elite 8, losing to Florida Atlantic.
The Vols have many returning contributors this season: Santiago Vescovi, Zakai Zeigler, Jahmai Mashack, Jonas Aidoo, Tobe Awaka and Josiah Jordan James.
Freddie Dilione and DJ Jefferson will be looking for larger roles on the team. JP Estrella, Cameron Carr and Cade Phillips are the incoming freshmen on the team who will also be looking to contribute to the 2023-2024 season.
The Vols play in one of two exhibition games on Oct. 29 against Michigan State in East Lansing. Tennessee's first regular season game is inside Food City Center against Tennessee Tech on November 6 at 6:30 p.m.
