KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee starting quarterback Nico Iamaleava was ruled out against Mississippi State with an upper-body injury after the first half. The red-shirt freshman played the entire first half, going 8-for-13 for 174 yards and two touchdowns.
The Tennessee crowd was shocked to see backup quarterback Gaston Moore enter the game to start the third quarter because Iamaleava did not show signs of being hurt in the first half.
So far this season, Iamaleava has grown into the role behind center for the Vols. It would be a gigantic loss if he is unable to play in the next upcoming SEC matchups.
