KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Three Tennessee football players, quarterback Nico Iamaleava, redshirt freshman placekicker Max Gilbert and junior edge rusher Joshua Josephs, were recognized and honored by the Southeastern Conference with weekly awards.

After No. 5 Tennessee spoiled No. 21 Oklahoma, the SEC tabbed Iamaleava as Freshman of the Week, Gilbert as Special Teams Player of the Week and Josephs as Co-Defensive Lineman of the Week.

For Iamaleava, this is the third time this season that he's earned Freshman of the Week by the SEC. He ties the school record set by Tyler Bray who won it three times in a four-week span in 2010, according to Tennessee Athletics.

Gilbert was recognized for the first time in his career after making 3-of-3 field goals and drilling both of his PATs in Norman, helping the Vols secure the 25-15 victory.

Josephs was a force on the field posting three tackles, a tackle for loss, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery in one of the most memorable defensive efforts in school history, Tennessee Athletics said.

Iamaleava complemented the elite defensive display with a solid performance in his first career SEC start, completing 13-of-21 passes for 194 yards and one touchdown through the air and adding 15 yards on the ground.

Tennessee has earned six SEC Weekly honors this season and 35 during the Josh Heupel era.
