So, the rumor is the Titans want to trade receiver Justin Hunter to the Browns.
Is it Oct. 1, or April 1? Because this sounds like an April Fools' joke.
In reality, it's just another bogus rumor that gets started this time of year.
The Titans have no interest in trading Hunter. Sure, they're disappointed with his inconsistency. They want more out of him. The second-year pro from Tennessee looked lackadaisical and lost through the first four games, following a preseason when he offered so much reason for optimism.
Coaches are frustrated. Hunter is frustrated.
But the Titans aren't looking to unload Hunter, a second-round pick last year. They're certainly not interested in trading him for a rookie running back (Isaiah Crowell) who went undrafted. Yes, that's one rumor that's going around. It originated in Cleveland.
The Titans drafted Bishop Sankey in the second round this year, but I'm not even going to use this as another reason to shoot down such silly, rumor-mill talk. It's not needed.
Frankly, someone would be fired if the Titans traded a second-round pick for an undrafted player. It makes no sense. It makes no sense for the Titans to give up on a guy who has so much potential.
Whether Hunter pans out, well, that remains to be seen. The Titans are trying to restore his confidence and they think he can be a playmaker this season.
