LAS VEGAS — San Francisco wide receiver Jauan Jennings made a huge play against the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl 58 on Sunday night in Las Vegas.
Jennings threw a 21-yard touchdown pass towards the end of the first half on a trick play. He connected with Christian McCaffery, who darted towards the endzone for the first touchdown of the night from either team, making the score 10-0.
The former VFL is now the first NFL wide receiver to throw a Super Bowl passing touchdown since Super Bowl 40, 18 years ago.
If this trick play looks familiar to Vol fans, Jennings ran nearly the same play as a Vol against Florida in 2015. On that play, he connected with Josh Dobbs for a 58-yard score.
From the 2015 to 2016 seasons, both Jennings and Dobbs combined for 729 yards and seven touchdowns through the air.
Ironically enough, Jennings was rated as the number five quarterback coming out of high school before transitioning to receiver at Tennessee. That arm made some magic against the Chiefs for the NFL's final matchup of the season.
Later in the fourth quarter, Jennings added a ten-yard receiving touchdown in the fourth quarter to give San Francisco the lead, 16-13.
Jennings joins Nick Foles as the second player in NFL history to throw and catch a touchdown in the same Super Bowl matchup.
