KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Dalton Knecht's selection by the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA Draft caught the attention of a very famous basketball player.
Earvin "Magic" Johnson, the former Lakers point guard, wanted to let Laker Nation know that Knecht getting picked was a great choice.
"Outstanding pick last night by our Lakers selecting Dalton Knecht - I love it," Johnson said in a tweet. "Dalton is just what the Lakers need, a deadly 3-point shooter/scorer who is physically tough and has swag."
Johnson even gave a nod to Tennessee and its basketball head coach Rick Barnes.
Knecht became the 12th Vol to be taken in the first round of the NBA Draft.
He is the highest-drafted University of Tennessee basketball player since Marcus Haislipin in 2002 when he was taken 13th overall by the Milwaukee Bucks.
