KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee fifth-year senior Dalton Knecht has been named the Julius Erving Award recipient, given annually to the nation's top small forward. The honor was announced Saturday on ESPN.

Knecht is the first player in Tennessee history to earn any of the "Starting Five" awards, given to the best player at each position. The Bob Cousy Award for best point guard has been given out since 2004, while the other four positions have been honored since 2015.

The Northern Colorado transfer made an immediate and lasting impact in his lone season with the Vols and was also honored as a unanimous First Team All-American as well as the SEC Player of the Year. Earlier this week, Knecht was also awarded the Riley Wallace Award as the nation's best transfer.

Knecht averaged 21.7 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game for the Vols this season, and finished second all-time in program history for single-season scoring with 780 points.
