KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee sophomore running back Cameron Seldon will miss the rest of Tennessee's spring camp following shoulder surgery, Josh Heupel announced Wednesday.
"We’ll kind of evaluate where we’re at as the rehab process gets started and base our decisions off of that and kind of where we project where he’s going to be," Heupel said.
Seldon is expected to be the primary backup to Dylan Sampson in the Vols' backfield this season. He saw extended work in Tennessee's homecoming game against UConn as well as in the Citrus Bowl matchup against Iowa last season, and finished his freshman campaign with 25 rushing attempts for 106 yards, as well as three kick returns.
Heupel said that other young running backs have stepped up in Seldon's absence on the practice field.
"Khalifa Keith has done a really nice job. He's been extremely physical," Heupel said. "DeSean Bishop, a young guy that got nicked up last year, his growth inside of our program, for him to get back on the field and showcase his skillset, handled the rehab process extremely well and I love the competition that he’s brought."
Tennessee football will play its Orange & White game inside Neyland Stadium on Saturday, April 13 at 1 p.m.
