KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Top-ranked Tennessee baseball set a new program record for home runs in a season with its 159th long ball of the year against Southern Mississippi on Sunday night. The previous record of 158 home runs was set by the 2022 Tennessee team.

Cal Stark set the new mark with a three-run blast in the ninth inning to make the score 12-3 in the Knoxville Regional final. It was also Stark's second home run of the game following a solo homer in the fifth to give Tennessee a 2-1 lead.

Freshman shortstop Dean Curley tied the 2022 record with a two-run home run in the seventh inning to put Tennessee up 9-3 in the Knoxville Regional Final.

The 2022 Tennessee team set the record in 66 games, but this year's team set a new best in two fewer games, hitting the mark in its 64th contest of the season.
