NEW YORK — Tennessee men's hoops will play Miami in the Jimmy V Classic at Madison Square Garden in New York City, ESPN Events announced Wednesday.
The Vols and Hurricanes will square off on December 10 at 6:30 p.m. as part of a double-header. Arkansas and Michigan are set to play each other later that night at 9 p.m.
The Jimmy V Classic began in 1995 in honor of Jim Valvano, and the event raises money and awareness for the V Foundation for Cancer Research.
Tennessee has played in the Jimmy V Classic twice before and has lost both games. The Vols fell to Virginia in 2000 and lost to Texas Tech in overtime in 2021.
The Vols are 3-1 all-time against the Hurricanes and the two teams have not met since 1996, when Tennessee topped Miami 84-60 on home court.
