KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee redshirt freshman guard Freddie Dilione V plans to enter the transfer portal, a source confirmed to WBIR on Thursday.
The former four-star recruit and top 50 player in the 2022 class enrolled in January 2023 to practice with the team and played in 18 games as a redshirt sophomore for the Vols during the 2023-2024 season.
Dilione averaged 5.2 minutes per game and scored a total of 30 points along with 14 assists and ten total rebounds. His season-high was a seven-point outing against Tennessee Tech in the season-opener, where he also tallied three assists and three rebounds in a season-high 16 minutes played.
The Fayetteville, North Carolina native would have likely taken on a bigger role at Tennessee next season with the departures of Dalton Knecht, Josiah-Jordan James and Santiago Vescovi opening the door to more playing time.
