KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee football is on the rise to No. 14 in the Associated Press Top 25 poll, released on Tuesday.
The Vols climbed one spot from their No. 15 preseason rankings. Tennessee is coming off a dominant 69-3 win against Chattanooga in its season opener on Saturday at Neyland Stadium.
Tennessee redshirt freshman Nico Iamaleava excelled in his first-ever start on home field. He set a new program record for passing yards in a half with 314 yards against the Mocs and completed 22-of-28 attempts with three touchdowns.
On Saturday, the Vols will travel to Charlotte to compete in a top-25 matchup against NC State in the Duke's Mayo Classic. This is the fourth meeting between the two teams and first meeting since the Vols' 35-21 win in Atlanta in 2012. This is the first time the teams will play each other as ranked teams.
The game starts at 7:30 p.m. in Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, N.C.
