Tennessee catcher Cal Stark signs undrafted free agent contract with Texas Rangers

ARLINGTON, Texas — Tennessee catcher Cal Stark has signed an undrafted free-agent contract with the Texas Rangers.

Stark played high school baseball at Farragut High School in Knoxville but grew up in Arlington, Texas, where the Rangers' home stadium is located. Globe Life Field is also the stadium where Tennessee baseball began its 2024 season which ended in a national championship victory.

The senior played his final two college seasons at Tennessee. Before Tennessee, Stark played junior college at Weatherford College (2022) and Navarro College (2021), both in Texas.

Stark anchored the defense for a Tennessee team that won its first-ever national championship in 2024 and finished his final season hitting .212 with 11 home runs and 30 RBIs.

The Texas Rangers also drafted Stark's teammate and Tennessee outfielder Dylan Dreiling in the second round of the 2024 MLB Draft with the 65th overall pick.
