KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee baseball has landed just outside the Perfect Game preseason top 25 at No. 11, the organization announced on Friday. The Vols are the sixth-highest SEC team in the rankings, and Wake Forest comes in at No. 1.
Three SEC teams were ranked in the top five, with No. 2 Arkansas earning the highest spot of the bunch, followed by No. 3 LSU and No. 4 Florida. No. 6 Vanderbilt and No. 7 Texas A&M are also ranked above the Vols, with Tennessee higher than conference foes No. 13 South Carolina and No. 15 Auburn.
Last season, Tennessee was ranked No. 2 in the Perfect Game preseason Top 25 and the Vols concluded their season in the College World Series.
Earlier this week, three Vols were named Perfect Game preseason All-Americans, with pitcher Drew Beam and infielder Billy Amick earning second-team nods while infielder Christian Moore earned a spot on the third team.
Tennessee begins its season in the Shriners Children's College Showdown against Texas Tech on Friday, Feb. 16 in Arlington, Texas.
