Maryville's Gage LaDue signs with Air Force football

MARYVILLE, Tenn. — Maryville star running back officially signed his National Letter of Intent to play college football at Air Force on Thursday afternoon at Maryville High School.

LaDue led the Rebels in rushes, rushing yards, receptions and receiving yards in a breakout junior season in 2022 and verbally committed to Air Force the summer before his senior year, but a broken leg in week one sidelined him for nearly the entire 2023 season.

The senior returned to action in Maryville's win against Alcoa in week nine and said having a future playing college football made it easier to work through that injury.

"I can't imagine if that was my last season ever of football, to be spending most of it on the sideline with a boot on my leg," LaDue said. "Knowing I had an opportunity to play at the next level is something I definitely won't take for granted and I'll think about that every day."

LaDue said the community support meant a lot as he got back to full health and having people around him helped him a great deal.
