STARKVILLE, Miss — Tennessee women's basketball once again used a second-half surge to earn a conference win, this time rallying to take down Mississippi State in Starkville, Miss. on Thursday night.
The Lady Vols overcame a double-digit deficit in the first half and opened the second half on a scorching-hot pace. Tennessee went on a 16-0 run from the end of the third quarter into the start of the fourth quarter to defeat the Bulldogs 75-64 at Humphrey Coliseum.
Rickea Jackson posted a game-high 17 points for the Lady Vols and added seven rebounds in the victory. Kaiya Wynn joined her in double-figures with 13 points, while Jasmine Powell and Sara Puckett each scored 11 points.
Tennessee struggled shooting the ball in the first half and went into the break 10-for-32 from the floor and 2-for-11 from behind the arc. The Lady Vols shot over 50 percent the rest of the way to close out the night with a 27-for-63 shooting performance.
The Lady Vols also posted a season-low nine turnovers in the win, while Mississippi State finished with 15 turnovers, including eight in the second half.
Tennessee will return home to host Vanderbilt on Sunday, Jan. 21 in their "We Back Pat" game inside the Food City Center at 3 p.m.
