Several East Tennessee high school football games rescheduled due to inclement weather

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Multiple high school football games set to take place on Friday have been rescheduled, thanks to heavy rain and gusty winds forecasted to hit the region.

Several school districts, including Knox County Schools and Anderson County Schools, said they would cancel class and close schools Friday due to the weather. WBIR is also no longer planning to host its weekly 10Tailgate event but still encourages anyone who can donate to contribute to the Tackling Hunger fundraiser.

Here's a list of the games we know have been affected by the severe weather so far: 

  • Gatlinburg-Pittman at Johnson County has been moved to Friday, Oct. 18 at 7 p.m.
  • Rockwood at Kingston has been moved again to Friday, Sept. 27 at 7 p.m. 
  • Cocke County at Chuckey-Doak has been canceled. Officials are working on rescheduling. 
  • Cosby at Hancock County was postponed. The Cosby administration is working with Hancock staff to reschedule.
  • Bearden at Farragut has been canceled for Friday. It was moved to Saturday at 6 p.m.
  • Heritage at West has been canceled for Friday. It was moved to Saturday at 3 p.m.
  • Fulton at Karns has been canceled for Friday.
  • Halls at Powell has been canceled for Friday. It was moved to Saturday at 1 p.m.
  • South-Doyle at Knox Central has been canceled for Friday. It was rescheduled for Saturday at 2 p.m.
  • Hardin Valley at Maryville was moved to 10 a.m. on Saturday.
  • Coalfield Middle School against Midway Thursday night rescheduled to Oct. 1 at 7 p.m. 
  • Coalfield High School against Sequatchie County rescheduled to Saturday at 7 p.m.
  • Knox Central against South Doyle rescheduled to Saturday at 2 p.m.
  • Alcoa's matchup against Union County has been rescheduled for Monday, Oct. 28 at 7 p.m.

The Loudon head coach also said the team plans to still play against Sequoyah Friday night.
